Makes 24 pieces
Ingredients:
˝ package (24.70 oz) “Maadanot” malawah defrosted in refrigerator Sauce Ingredients: 2 medium sized tomatoes, pealed and crushed 2 tablespoons ketchup; or 1 teaspoon tomato sauce dry oregano (optional) salt pepper flour for flouring ˝ cup Emek grated cheese 1 egg beaten with a teaspoon of salt sesame seeds
Preparation Method:
1. Place crushed tomatoes in strainer, and let sit 15 minutes in order to remove liquids. Pre-heat oven to medium temperature (356 F°). Line pan with baking sheet. 2. Prepare sauce: Mix crushed tomatoes with ketchup and oregano. Taste, and spice with salt and pepper. 3. Preparing pastries: Flour the work surface, and spread one malawah leaf on it (keep the rest of the malawah leaves in the refrigerator in the meantime). Spread a third of the tomato sauce on the malawah, and sprinkle a third of the grated cheese on top. 4. Cut the leaf into 8 triangles. Roll each triangle, from the wide end into a small croissant. Place in pan. In the same way, prepare the remaining two malawah leaves. Brush with egg, and sprinkle sesame seeds. 5. Bake for approximately 25 minutes, until snacks turn golden. Serve warm.
